Learn how to build an AR-15 from the ground up!

Texas License 2 Carry & Average Joe Guns are offering a build your own AR-15 program.

With this program you will have the chance to assemble your own AR-15 under the watchful eye of our certified Gunsmith.

Learn about 1 of the 2 most popular and common rifles in the world only rivaled by the AK-47. This was a revolutionary rifle when it was developed in the 1960’s, and it has continued to remain on the cutting edge through a long military service life.

This is a very unique class and has limited space. It also requires purchase of the firearms kit at least one week to the class if the student is planning on taking the rifle home with them after we test fire them on the range.*

In our program we will take you through the complete assembly of your lower receiver.

  • Pistol grip
  • Trigger assembly (you will build your own trigger from the parts provided)
  • Selector switch
  • Buffer spring and buffer
  • Buffer tube, butt stock
  • Magazine lock and release

We will also cover the upper receiver and its components, including the bolt carrier group. We explain the rifle’s design and how each part interacts to cycle the gun when fired. You will understand how this rifle designed in the 1960’s was created so that an 18 year old could fix it.

  • Front sight assembly
  • gas tube and gas block
  • Barrel assembly- castle nut assembly and hand guards
  • Bolt carrier group

After assembly, we will teach you how to perform several function checks and then go to the range to test fire your new rifle.
